Visiting Surgeon Program
Step-by-step guide to the visiting surgeon program at AlHayat Medical Center Kuwait — inquiry, MOH credentialing, theater scheduling, first case onboarding, ongoing support.

How the visiting surgeon program works

AlHayat Medical Center has a structured pathway for external surgeons who wish to perform procedures at our facility in Kuwait. The process is designed to be straightforward, protect patient safety at every stage, and ensure every visiting clinician is fully set up from their first case onward.

Step 1 — Initial inquiry and facility visit

Submit an inquiry through the For Professionals contact form. If requested, we will arrange a facility visit so you can meet the clinical team, tour the theaters, and discuss your requirements in person. This usually takes about an hour and carries no commitment on either side.

Step 2 — Credentialing and MOH licensing

Visiting surgeons must hold a valid Kuwait Ministry of Health license to practice at a private facility. Our clinical administration team will guide you through the documentation required.

We coordinate the submission process alongside you to keep it moving efficiently.

Step 3 — Scheduling and theater booking

Once credentialing is complete, you can easily book your cases through a dedicated phone line. Bookings are confirmed directly with our theater coordinator, who manages list planning, room turnover, equipment requests, and staff allocation for each case.

Step 4 — Your first case

Before your first procedure, you will be introduced to the anesthesia, nursing, and recovery teams. Any specific instruments, implants, or equipment you require can be ordered in advance. Our central supply team will confirm availability ahead of each case and flag anything that needs sourcing externally. Most surgeons find the first case settles any remaining logistical questions.

Step 5 — Ongoing support

Visiting surgeons are supported through the full patient journey — from pre-operative assessment, through theater, to post-operative follow-up and discharge. You retain clinical responsibility for your patient throughout, with our team handling facility logistics, nursing, anesthesia, billing, and insurance.
